~ THE CHILD IN US ~ ~
I
stand gazing into the eyes, that I've known throughout my life....I see....
Reflections of the child, I used to be.
Dreams that once lived within this heart of mine.... I see....
Like shattered mirrors, of the child, I used to be.
Gone, like a vapor, that vanishes with dawn....I see....
Ghostly shadows, of the child I used to be.
With the swiftness, of a fallen star....
Dreams abandoned and forgotten....far, and far away....I see....
Only a phantom left behind....of the child I used to be.
Storm clouds billow 'cross a leaden sky....
A million diamond stars, winking from a canopy of black velvet....
All of these, and more....I see....
An eternity gone by, of the child I used to be.
Ocean waves toss about, like in a frothy sea....
Sifting sands run down to the ocean's edge....I see....
A mighty storm, once raging, of the child I used to be.
Glowing flames flickering in the breeze....
slowly die, as winds engulf their life....I see....
Memories, like ashes and embers, grown cold....of the child, I used to be.
Echo's of time, tip-toe gently through my mind....
Reflective thoughts, softly whisper....
As a meadow of flowers bow in a breeze....
Like tranquil melodies, lilting a song....I see....
Rolling, green hills of beauty....now gone, of the child I used to be.
Come, my friends, and look deep within....the mirrors of your own eyes...to
see....
Like mirrored windows of the soul, that once was free....
And you will know, that all IS true....As you see...
the child, that once was you.
